PROJECT PARTICULARS

CLIENT

GORO NICKEL
New Caledonia

During the very early stages of this project (mid 2001) Oracle Engineering were retained to review and optimise the design of the steam and power plants for this project. There are two distinct power plants being installed as part of the overall Goro Nickel project, the larger is a coal fired utility plant of 2 x 50MW generators the other an oil fired process steam and power plant. TOWNSVILLE POWER STATION

Townsville power station is a 220 MW combine cycle power station located at Yabulu in Nth Queensland. It comprises a single one gas turbine, a heat recovery steam generator and a single steam turbine. The g as Turbine was installed 1998 and waste heat recovery section added in 2005. Project details »

PALMER NICKEL AND COBALT REFINERY
Townsville, QLD

Engineering and technical support covering the conversion from oil to coal seam gas firing for the No. 11 Nickel Roaster at the Palmer Nickel & Cobalt Refinery, Yabulu, Nth Qld. Project details »

KILN - WASTE HEAT RECOVERY PLANT
Capel, Western Australia

This project involved the installation of a 30tph waste heat boiler, 8MW steam T/G set, electrostatic precipitator and associated equipment. Oracle was retained as designers and project engineers for the main installation contractor. Project details »

METHANE COMBUSTION
Vietnam

In early 2012 Oracle Engineering were requested to review the concept of combusting waste biogas from a waste water treatment plant in a coal fired steam boiler. Following technical and commercial negotiations Oracle were awarded the contract for the complete design and detailing of the system to extract biogas from the water treatment plant and inject into a circulating fluid bed boiler. Project details »

RAVENSTHORPE NICKEL
Western Australia

Oracle were originally retained by Hatch / Minproc and then the owners engineer's (RJV) to provide engineering services to produce the complete energy and power (thermal) design for this nickel mine and process plant. Project details »

PARKHURST EXPANSION PROJECT
Rockhampton, Queensland

For this project Oracle worked closely with the EPC contractor (Jord International) by providing off site mechanical engineering services for the installation of a new multi hearth furnace (calciner) and ancillary equipment together with an expansion of the screen and milling capacity at Queensland Magnesia's Parkhurst production facility, Rockhampton, Nth Queensland. Project details »

BOILER REHABILIATION
Chumporn, Thailand

This project involved the modifications to a palm oil refuse fired boiler to improve combustion and prevent the build up of 'slag' on the furnace pressure parts.  Our initial involvement was a site inspection and report with recommendations designed to overcome these problems.  Project details »

PIPING UPGRADE
Melbourne, Victoria

Installation of a new 7.5MW extraction / condensing T/A set, the up rating of two existing boilers (including detailed thermal and circulation calculations) and an existing 10MW T/A set, the installation of complete new steam reticulation and pressure reducing systems and a new overall power plant microprocessor control system.  Project details »

VALES POINT POWER STATION
NSW

In 1998 Oracle were awarded the design portion of a LP Heater rehabilitation project for the NSW generating authority at their Vales Point Power Station.  Valves Point (4 500MW coal fired (PF) units) is one of series of power stations in the Hunter Valley coals field of NSW.  Project details »

PROCESSING PLANT

Nowra, NSW

This project involved modifications to an existing ethanol distillery to allow for the production of fuel grade ethanol.  Engineering included to design of all pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping required to modify the plant. Project details »

BOILER REHABILITATION
Nowra, NSW

This project involved the dismantling, transportation and re-erection of a coal fired boiler and its associated equipment. Oracle was retained by the customer to firstly design and detail modifications to the boiler pressure parts to increase capacity from 25 to 50tph and secondly to provide overall project design, engineering and drawing services for the installation. Project details »

STEAM SYSTEM INTEGRATION
Ban Pong, Thailand

This project involved modifications to the high pressure steam (110 barg @ 510 Deg C) piping at a pulp and paper plant to integrate individual power boilers with steam turbines.  A new steam header was installed together with interconnecting piping and valves.  Project details »

BURNER UPGRADE
Melbourne Victoria

Installed 1993 - and still in service. Project details »

POWER PLANT
Mt Isa, Queensland

This project involved the installation of a steam turbine for a process plant in Mt Isa.  Oracle was originally commissioned to perform a feasibility study for installing a steam piping system over an extended distance for 'export' steam.  Project details »

MICA CREEK POWER STATION
Mt Isa, North West Queensland

This project involved the installation of two 65 tph HRSG's with Oracle's role being the design and detailing of the main steam line and supports (design conditions 7205 kPag @ 500 Deg C) connecting these units to an existing steam turbine.  Project details »

ECONOMISERS
Melbourne, Australia

A new economizer designed specifically to be retrofitted into an existing gas fired boiler to improve both boiler efficiency and output. The design duties were 5,600 kPag, 275 Deg C and feed water flow of 80tph. Project details »

BOILER REHABILITATION
Morwell, Victoria

This project involved the replacement of economiser sections in a 200tph gas fired boiler, this boiler had experienced a number of tube failures in the upper section of the economiser.  Oracle's investigation recommended the replacement of these sections with an alloy boiler with internal rifling to increase steam turbulence and external finning for more efficient heat transfer.
